Designing with Borders

Whatever plans you have for your patio, consider this easy way to kick it up a notch. Consider setting off a dining area or seating area with a decorative band or border.

The simplest way is to saw cut a 10-12” band on the border of a concrete slab. This can help separate adjoining areas of a patio, or carry the border around the entire patio to soften the look of the edge of the slab.

Another idea is to stamp a patterned border into fresh concrete. Some popular designs include fleur-de-lis, grape vine border, and bar-tile trim.
